Privacy Policy

Bankers is made by Ross Fitzgerald, a sole trader in Dublin, Ireland ("we"). We are the data controller for the information described here. Contact: ross.fitzgerald114@gmail.com.
In short: there are no accounts, no ads and no tracking, and we never sell data. Your answers and progress stay on your device unless you ask for them to be marked.
What stays on your device
Your profiles, chosen subjects and topics, answers, drafts, marks, streaks and progress are stored only on your phone or in your browser. We do not receive them. Deleting the app (or clearing the website's data) deletes them. On Android they may be included in your device's own Google backup.
Examiner-style marking
When you ask for an answer to be marked, we send the question and your answer text, over an encrypted connection, to our marking service run on Amazon Web Services in the EU. Your answer is graded by Claude, an AI model developed by Anthropic, which Amazon Web Services runs for us through Amazon Bedrock in the EU. Anthropic does not receive your answer.
- Nothing that identifies you is sent - no name, email or contact details.
- Your answer is not stored after marking, and it is never used to train AI models.
- The app asks for your permission before your first answer is marked.
Anonymous install ID
To count free and Bankers Pro marks, each install of the app gets a random ID and a secret token. Our server keeps the ID, a one-way hash of the token, how many marks have been used, and, if you buy Pro, the store's order or transaction reference so the purchase can be confirmed and restored. To limit abuse we briefly count requests from each internet address; those counters are deleted automatically within two days.
Purchases
Bankers Pro is bought through the App Store or Google Play. Apple or Google handle payment; we never see your card or account details. We only receive the proof of purchase needed to unlock Pro.
Online leaderboard (optional)
If you join, we store the nickname you choose, an optional group code, and your XP, streak and number of answers, so they can be shown to other players. Please don't use your full name. Leaving the leaderboard in the app deletes your entry.
Dictation
If you speak your answer, the speech-to-text service built into your device (Apple or Google) turns it into text. We never receive the audio.
Feedback (test versions only)
Test versions include a feedback button. If you use it, we receive your note, the name you give (if any), the screen you were on and, only if you choose to include it, a screenshot. Screenshots are deleted after 180 days.

Server logs
Our server records which feature was used, whether it worked and how long it took, with the first few characters of the anonymous install ID, to spot faults and abuse. It never logs your answers. Logs are deleted after 30 days.
Legal basis
We process data to provide the service you ask for (marking, the leaderboard, Pro), with your consent for marking, and for our legitimate interest in preventing abuse and keeping the service secure.
Young people
Bankers is made for Leaving Certificate students, usually aged 16 to 18. If you are under 16, please use the online leaderboard and marking only with a parent or guardian's permission.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the data we hold about your install, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how it is used. Email us - include your leaderboard nickname or purchase date so we can find the right records. You can also complain to the Data Protection Commission, dataprotection.ie.
Deleting your data
You can delete everything Bankers holds about you:
- On your device - delete the Bankers app (or, on the website, clear the site's data). This removes your profiles, answers, drafts and progress.
- Leaderboard - in the app go to Progress, Leaderboard, Settings, Leave. Your entry is deleted from our server immediately.
- Everything else - email ross.fitzgerald114@gmail.com with the subject "Delete my Bankers data". Include your leaderboard nickname or the date you bought Pro so we can find the right records.
We then delete, within 30 days: the anonymous install record and its mark counts, any purchase confirmation linked to it, your leaderboard entry and any feedback you sent. Server logs are deleted automatically after 30 days. Apple or Google keep their own records of a purchase under their privacy policies. Deleting your data ends Bankers Pro on that install; you can restore it later from the store.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
Bankers is independent and not connected to the State Examinations Commission.
